Q1: What is TWiNY Flow?

TWiNY Flow is flowable type resin, which has been added to our TWiNY product line-up of Paste type indirect composite resin.
The outstanding features of TWiNY are the following points:

1. Outstanding workability
2. Variety of shades and easy to reproduce shades
3. Change in light transmission before and after curing is small
4. Great physical properties
5. High impact resistance reduces risk of fracture
6. Biocompatibility

TWiNY was developed with the above concepts in mind. TWiNY Flow has more optimal flowability than the Paste type, so it can be mixed with reduced air bubble entrapping at concave and convex areas. This property makes it possible to express delicate color tones for reproducing natural tooth appearance. By filling over 70% fillers, it exhibits over 200 MPa flexural strength. The hardness is about 80 HV, which means high enough impact resistance for it to be used for occlusal surfaces of molars, even though it is a flowable type. Since the TWiNY Flow nozzle is thin, it is suitable for direct application (Pic. 1). Since the depth of cure is the same as TWiNY Paste type, the curing schedule of TWiNY Flow type is the same as TWiNY Paste type.

Compared with the Paste type, the Flow type reduces air bubble entrapping; therefore, it will enhance reproducibility of concavity and convexity at the mamelon (Pic. 2) and details of cavity for inlay (Pic. 3).

Q2: What kinds of shade are included in the TWiNY Flow line-up?

There are a total of 24 shades in the TWiNY Flow line-up: 4 shades for the Dentine and Enamel series, 5 shades for the Effect series, 7 shades for the Gum series and 8 shades for the Trans series. (Pic.5)

TWiNY Flow

Since TWiNY Flow shades are same as the ones for the Paste type, they can be used with confidence. TWiNY Flow can be used for dealing with problems such as air bubbles and additional repair work such as application of contact area. Since the Trans range has the same shades as the Paste type and the Gum range has a broad enough line-up, it is possible to express aesthetic methods. Also, TWiNY Flow can be mixed into different shades with a brush or a spatula*; therefore, the range of color tone expressions can be expanded. (Pic. 6)
*TWiNY Flow is subject to air-bubble formation during mixing. Please mix carefully.

Q3: Are there any cautions we should follow when using TWiNY Flow?

The amount of filler and monomers in TWiNY Flow are different from TWiNY Paste. This is to make the flowability higher. Please pay attention to the following points:

・Please note that TWiNY Flow has larger polymerization shrinkage
than TWiNY Paste type; therefore, pay attention to the thickness when applying.

・Mixing TWiNY Flow and TWiNY Paste will cause deterioration in the physical properties proper to the Paste type and will lower operability, so please do not mix them.
